Dear friends!

Each place in the blue-eyed Belarus has its own peculiar features. However, there is a place on the earth that is different from all the rest – it is our Uzda District. It is a place that makes you feel like home, a place where your soul dwells, a place where you feel settled and comfortable, a place where you feel inspired by the centuries-old history, primeval nature and traditional culture.
Uzda District was destined to be located in the heart of Minsk Oblast and Belarus. Therefore, our land was often at the crossroads of landmark historical events and still remembers the legendary battles of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, Mongol invasion, Napoleon’s retreat, the First World War and the Second World War. The names of our compatriots who defended the homeland during the Great Patriotic War are inscribed in golden letters in the history of the district.

The history reveals itself through archeological artifacts, architectural specimens, historical monuments and natural landmarks.

The Nyomanets, the springhead of the great Belarusian river, gives our land miraculous strength. After all, our land is the place where the Father Neman begins its run towards the Baltic Sea.

Uzda District is a cradle of the Belarusian culture. It is one of the first places in modern-day Belarus where book printing was introduced. An array of outstanding writers, scientists, artists and painters hail from here, from big and small villages of Uzda District.

We are proud of our homeland that gave birth to many talented Belarusians who glorified it through globally recognized scientific achievements and masterpieces of art.

Today Uzda District is a dynamically developing region with modern infrastructure, efficient agricultural industry and tremendous opportunities for agro-tourism.

We set store by friendly ties and welcome fruitful cooperation. I hope that this publication will be your helpful guide through our district.

I wish local residents and visitors excellent health, success, peace and prosperity!

Welcome to Uzda District!

Best regards,
Vyacheslav Pakholchik,
Chairman of the Uzda District Executive Committee
